Please Don't

Piper was playing in the living room this morning while I was busy working in the kitchen. All of a sudden I heard this huge belly laugh come from the living room. I ran in with my camera in hand to attempt to capture what is was that was causing a huge laugh come from my tiny princess. I quickly discovered it was the Wiggles! Piper has never been interested in what was on the TV so I have never purposefully put on an age appropriate show for her. It is my personal belief that kids should not be constantly entertained by the boob tube.

As the Wiggles show (for those who are not familiar with the Wiggles, it is a young kids show that has four adult men who sing and act like idiots all the time. Sounds entertaining right?) progressed I heard many songs that we used to sing with Reghan as a toddler because she too loved the Wiggles. The longer the show played I heard something strange come from the Wiggles. They were singing in Hebrew and then in Spanish! What the heck????? Really, do I need to expose my 15 month old to Hebrew and Spanish when she is still trying to learn English!
I am fine with Reghan's school having a Spanish teacher and teaching her Spanish at school. Reghan already has an established English vocabulary (larger than I would like a t times). However, Piper defiantly does not have an established vocabulary since her's consists of: Dada, Mama, Sis, Gram, Granddad, dog, monkey, nana (for banana), ball, I love Dada, oh no, no, etc. You get the idea. I do not need my toddler being confused by multiple languages.

I am sure that the writers of these shows think they are doing a good thing by introducing young children to different languages. But, for me, I think the Wiggles have lost their "charm". Bye Bye Wiggles!!! There is my rant for the day. Hope you enjoyed it as much as I did. I feel better now.

You made me laugh! The older they get, the less open we can talk in front of them. I guess that means we will just have to start having actual adult time together without the kids!
